Remote Identification Server

The RID Server is responsible for the identification and classification tasks.

The role of the RID Server is to resolve the inherent uncertainties of tracking in inevitable situations when the system loses track of people or objects due to blind areas, like restrooms. In these situations the task is to decide whether a person currently visible in a scene is or is not the same as somebody who was seen before somewhere else in the observed area.

To accomplish this the Remote Identification Server

  • uses access card or biometrics based access control system as primary identification to get the real identity of people,
  • applies so called "session-based biometrics" and uses biometric and soft-biometric features for secondary identification, for instance height measurement or separation based on the color of one's clothing.
